Welcome to the Jungle! - Onesie

Here is the next cutie thing that I made for Caleb.

Jackie loves it.  I even made a few other things in this fabric (which I have to wait and show you later).

This is the super cute fabric that Jackie picked.  You can see the tie tracings I did with a white fabric pencil.

The knot part of the tie pinned and ready for sewing.

The tie sewn to itself and pinned to the onesie.

Tie all sewn!!  And the back is made so the monkey peeks out!

And the young man of the hour.  Wearing the tie.  I have more pictures of this little man all dressed up but I can't show them yet because the other things are hiding in the backgrounds.

I miss this little guy so much and I can't wait to get started on the quilt I am going to make for him.  I'll give you a hint... it is more jungle!

RAWR - Dino Tie

I was quite the crafty one this past weekend.  Partly due to the fact that I could sew an outfit and actually be able to see it on the baby in real time!

Today I will be sharing the Dino tie that I made.  Just wait it is so super cute!

I first started with a brown onesie and my dino fabric.

I traced my pattern onto the fabric with a white fabric pencil.  Jackie wanted the triceratops to be in the knot of the tie and the long neck to be the focus of the tie.

Each piece was cut, pinned to it's opposite with right sides together.  I am funny and like to predetermine where my openings are going to be before I sew.  That way I feel a little better while I am in the process of trying to turn them.

I completed the terrifying job of turning the fabric (the whole time worrying my hole was too small).  They were ironed nice and crisp before I hand sewed the knot to the tie.  I then sewed the tie onto the t-shirt.  I went over the same spot three times to make sure it wouldn't get ripped off by little hands.  It is also important to point out, make sure the back of the shirt doesn't get sewn to the front.... yeah learned from experience the first time I made one.

Washed the shirt and iron the tie pretty again.

Put on the model and oohh and aaahh!!

Isn't he just the CUTEST!!!  I have to say it was much more fun to sew something and almost immediately see it on the person it was made for.

I have more sewing projects to share next week!

Pinterest Pick - Neck Tie

Around Christmas time my sister Jill was getting all creative and using things she had around her apt to make thing for gifts.  One of the things that she made was a bracelet using an old neck tie.  It turned out super cute and I have since been seeing more and more craft things that use old ties.

One of those is this pin I recently found on Pinterest.  It is using an old tie to dress up a plain t-shirt.  Jill had an extra tie that she didn't end up using and gave it to me.  I am thinking I will have to attempt this... once I have all of my other projects done.  It will take me a little while to decide which of my shirts would best match the tie... or I may just want to buy a new one. :)

Happy Saturday!!

P.S. I managed to post on time today!! Yay!!
