A friend of the bf and mine may be crashing at our place for a few weeks since the purchase of a house fell through for him.
This causes an issue for me... all of my stuff is in the guest room closet and bathroom and room... which doesn't leave much space for anyone else's stuff. So I might have to clean out some of that space to give our friend some room. Which is totally reasonable right?
One possibility is rather than trying to find a place to store all of my old t-shirts while he uses my dresser is to just make them into a quilt... I have completed the first step to doing that too. I bought a larger self-healing cutting mat. (Thank you employee who honored a day old 50% off coupon!)
I am very excited because it is an 18 x 24 mat so my t-shirts will definitely fit on there no problem. But my worry is that I will get this started and then not be able to finish by next weekend... thus making the apt even more messy than if I had just found a temporary home for them.
So should I or shouldn't I, that is my question. Any suggestions?
In other news I have started to clear out the guest closet (and totally forgot to take any pictures for you) so hopefully that project can be finished rather quickly.
Amanda, I so enjoy reading your posts and learning what a talented niece I have. I've learned so much about you. The t-shirt quilt is especially interesting to me since Memere and I had made one together for Aaron. It turned out really nice. I hope yours does too. It is a major project that I never would have attempted without her since sewing machines and I never got along. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHI!!! I am so excited that you read my blog!!! When I watched my friend sew the quilt for Jon it looked very easy. So I think I might be able to make one on my own. Jon even offered to help cut them up too!
DeleteGood luck with the quilt!!! I've wanted to make some of these with my college softball shirts, but I don't think I have enough, and half of them all look the same so it would be a pretty ugly quilt. I'm not sure if you read her, but Lil Blue Boo just did a great t-shirt quilt tutorial yesterday or the day before you might want to check out!
ReplyDelete:) I will have to check out Lil Blue Boo to see how she did hers. I did watch my friend make one so I think I have the idea. But working with my OWN shirts will be a different story.
DeleteFor your softball one you could look out for t-shirt fabric with softballs or bats or something to break up the sameness of the shirts.
