Pinterest Pick - Home Ideas

My theme this week is home improvement.  We have been checking out houses and may have found one (keep your fingers crossed!).  All of this has got me thinking about what I would want to have in the house.  I have a bunch of ideas all rolled in to one post.

I love this idea of a beverage drawer.  You can see above the drawer a wine cooler too.  I totally want this.  And I think this would be perfect for parties.

This is a great laundry room idea.  Each person gets their own basket.  As it becomes full, the person then would have to bring their basket to their room to unload.  Even thought it would be just Jon and I, I still think it would be a great idea to incorporate into a new place.  The downfall with this idea is that most houses we have see have the laundry outside...

I. Love. Swings.  My Grammie has always had porch swings at her houses and I couldn't imagine having a house without one.  But having eight?!  This would be perfect, especially if there is a fire pit in the middle.

My experience with garages is that it becomes a pit of stuff everywhere.  I think this idea is great.  The lower cabinets of the stack slide out to become a step ladder to the higher ones.  This is awesome so that all of the cabinets can be accessible all of the time.  I see a draw back being that the area in front of the bottom steps must be clear at all times to allow for them to open.

My final idea today is converting a closet door into a bookshelf.  It will act as a much prettier fixture than a boring door.  Plus it means that I have more places to put stuff.  :)

Here's to home makeovers!!

Pinterest Pick - Closet Organization Dreams

In checking around Pinterest this week I found lots of things to pin (like always).  However, this one stood out.

[Source]
The original blog the pin was from is Erica's blog.  She seems to have other organization ideas and tricks to save money.

Basically her idea (that she was prompted to recreate from another photo she saw) is to place shower hooks onto the closet rod.  Then you hang your purses on it!  You can see them all and it would make it very easy to decide on what purse to use.

This resonated with me because currently all of my purses are in a rubbermaid bin under my bed.  I hardly ever change what purse I am using simply because it is too difficult to get to my other purses.  The only problem I have with this fabulous idea is that my current closet is not large enough to hold anything else.

But I can dream to have space in the future...

Happy pinning!

Pinterest Copy Cat - Closet Cleaning

I realized on Sunday that it was the first of April.

First of all I hate April Fool's Day so I planned to stay away from anyone that just might try to play a trick on me.  Second, the bf got up and went into work (they are on mandatory overtime) which left me to do all of the Sunday chores.  Normally we split them, he does the vacuuming and I do everything else.  So on days he is gone I get stuck doing the vacuuming too.

As I was getting the laundry out of the closet I realized it had been three months since I went though my clothes and turned the hangers the wrong way.  The goal was to turn them the wrong way and as I used them, the clothes would be put back on the hanger the right way.  It would help truly identify which clothes I used and which I didn't.  I always think that I need new clothes and I almost bought these on Saturday:
Me at the Loft.  My newest most favorite store
I am still this close to buying them...  we shall see.  If you let me know you like them I might go ahead and buy them. :)

But back to my closet.  I found this

You see how some of the hangers are backwards?

Well here is a close up.  Basically all of the ones on the left end I have not worn since January 1st.  Three whole months.  So I went though all of the backwards hangers and really thought about if I didn't wear it because it was too small or that I had just forgotten it was there.  I then removed the ones that I would not wear because they were too small and left the ones that I might wear later.  I did leave the hangers backwards for those.

This is the pile that I was able to get rid of.  Off to Goodwill they went.  Hopefully someone will find them and love them.

I now have all of these free hangers!!!

And I have more space for new clothes!!!  Plus three more months to see if I will wear the backwards hanger clothes.  I might have even more space after that.

You wondering what the bf's side looks like?

Yea.... so much more organized than mine.  One day I hope to have my clothes organized by color too...
