Plans

A friend of the bf and mine may be crashing at our place for a few weeks since the purchase of a house fell through for him.

This causes an issue for me... all of my stuff is in the guest room closet and bathroom and room... which doesn't leave much space for anyone else's stuff.  So I might have to clean out some of that space to give our friend some room.  Which is totally reasonable right?

One possibility is rather than trying to find a place to store all of my old t-shirts while he uses my dresser is to just make them into a quilt...  I have completed the first step to doing that too.  I bought a larger self-healing cutting mat.  (Thank you employee who honored a day old 50% off coupon!)
I am very excited because it is an 18 x 24 mat so my t-shirts will definitely fit on there no problem.  But my worry is that I will get this started and then not be able to finish by next weekend... thus making the apt even more messy than if I had just found a temporary home for them.

So should I or shouldn't I, that is my question.  Any suggestions?

In other news I have started to clear out the guest closet (and totally forgot to take any pictures for you) so hopefully that project can be finished rather quickly.

Spring Cleaning Fever?

Yes, I had it.  This weekend I had a need to clean out the freezer.  Why?  Because I knew I had things in there that were super old... like moved with me when I moved in with the bf over a year ago.  Gross I know.

This is what I started with
I had emptied the top door shelf before I took this picture.

Yea you can't find anything in there... well except what is up front.

I literally pulled all of the stuff out and made a "wholey crap thats old" and a keep pile.

The keep side.
The definite trash side.
I cleaned the freezer and then decided how best to put the items back in there.  I came up with this
I put all of the similar foods types together.  Like fruits, pizzas, snacks, meats, etc.

I even put all of my gluten free breads and things in the door!  Now I can easily see them.

Once it was all organized I felt so much better.  Now I just have to take care of the table... it is currently home to all of my crafting stuff.

Pinterest Copy Cat - Closet Cleaning

I realized on Sunday that it was the first of April.

First of all I hate April Fool's Day so I planned to stay away from anyone that just might try to play a trick on me.  Second, the bf got up and went into work (they are on mandatory overtime) which left me to do all of the Sunday chores.  Normally we split them, he does the vacuuming and I do everything else.  So on days he is gone I get stuck doing the vacuuming too.

As I was getting the laundry out of the closet I realized it had been three months since I went though my clothes and turned the hangers the wrong way.  The goal was to turn them the wrong way and as I used them, the clothes would be put back on the hanger the right way.  It would help truly identify which clothes I used and which I didn't.  I always think that I need new clothes and I almost bought these on Saturday:
Me at the Loft.  My newest most favorite store
I am still this close to buying them...  we shall see.  If you let me know you like them I might go ahead and buy them. :)

But back to my closet.  I found this

You see how some of the hangers are backwards?

Well here is a close up.  Basically all of the ones on the left end I have not worn since January 1st.  Three whole months.  So I went though all of the backwards hangers and really thought about if I didn't wear it because it was too small or that I had just forgotten it was there.  I then removed the ones that I would not wear because they were too small and left the ones that I might wear later.  I did leave the hangers backwards for those.

This is the pile that I was able to get rid of.  Off to Goodwill they went.  Hopefully someone will find them and love them.

I now have all of these free hangers!!!

And I have more space for new clothes!!!  Plus three more months to see if I will wear the backwards hanger clothes.  I might have even more space after that.

You wondering what the bf's side looks like?

Yea.... so much more organized than mine.  One day I hope to have my clothes organized by color too...

Git 'Er Done Link up

Welcome any readers visiting from Cheri's Git 'Er Done Link Up Party!!  I am very excited to be participating in my first "crafting/creative" link party!  I hope you enjoy and leave a comment so I can say hi and thanks for stopping by!

The project I share with you today was started weeks ago.  You remember it right?  No, the mess was not splayed all over the floor like in these pictures.  I like piles so once I stopped this project it was all stacked up nice and neat... on the floor.  Okay you got me on that part.

But it did take Cheri over at I Am Momma to inspire me to finish it.  She spent this week sharing the chores around the house she had kept putting off doing.  I thought, “hey I have one of those!  I should join the link up party on Friday!!  Maybe I can make some more blog friends too!!”  Yes.  I am all about making new blog friends.  Everyone is so nice and creative and I just want to know everyone!!  Okay, way off topic…

The whole purpose was to get rid of my accordion coupon holders for a more visually appealing, and not to mention easier to use, option.

Now I am not a big couponer.  I love a good coupon but because of my allergies and make up provider of choice (what up Mary Kay!) I don’t use many of the standard coupons.  But I still have enough that it took me way to look to search for usable ones before a trip to the grocery store.
I started by emptying the accordion folder and sorting the coupons into a few different piles.  Expired, close to expiring, and not expired.

Now I keep my expired coupons and give them to my coworker.  She found out that the military men and women stationed outside of the US can use the expired coupons at their stores.  She sends them once she has a big stack.  Google it.  You can find tons of websites that tell you how to do it.
I then took the close to expiring and decided if they were items that I needed during my next shopping trip or I knew they were already on sale (gotta love when that happens).  If I was definitely not going to use the coupon it went in the expired coupon pile.
With those two piles tackled and my grocery list already started for the week I moved to the last pile of coupons.  The ones that I wanted to keep.  I took a few moments to decide how I wanted the coupons within the book to be sorted.  Did I want to do it by store placement, dates, type of foods, cold vs. non-cold?  I finally went with how the Publix I shop at all of the time is laid out.  That way I could bring the binder with me and easily flip the pages as I went to the different sections of the store.
When buying my binder necessities at the office store I could not decide between the types of pages I wanted.  I ended up buying a pack of the baseball card size that opened at the top and a business card sized pockets that opened horizontally.  I decided which page style to use based upon the coupon shapes for that area of the store.

I was so proud of myself when I was done I decided to use the extra binder I bought to make a binder of all of the restaurant coupons we have.
Enter the mess… again.

But look how lovely they look!!  Much easier to use.

I even put in some sheet protectors at the back of the restaurant binder so that we can put the delivery menus in there!!  Everything all together.  Just like I like it.

This project was easy, fairly inexpensive, and will be used on a weekly basis!

A big thank you to Cheri for inspiring me to finish the project I started.  I am linked up at her place today for the party!  You should visit to see the other projects her readers completed.

Oh and for my regular readers: I didn't forget to show you the surprise I got for the bf.  I will share it tomorrow... and the  I Am Momma visitors have already seen it.  Cheri had gotten one for her boys.  Hey what can I say.  I am a copy cat, but I like to give credit where it's due.  :)

Well I did it again...

Trying to clean up an area I just made another mess...

This all came from where I hope to put the little books that I finished setting up.

The places where this stuff came from looks fabulous! but the table not so much.

I better get to work when I get home today!!
