What I'm Reading Monday - Love me some Vamps

Boy.  Did last week go by super crazy ridiculously fast for anyone else?  It was halfway through before I even blinked and then here I am and it's Monday!  I was productive this week though.

1) Called and complained to the apartment office far too many times for them to finally do what I needed them to do on Friday.
2) I did some updating to the blog because I figured out how to add widgets!  I know have a Follow me on Pinterest link, a counter to show how far along I am on my Goodreads 2012 reading challenge, and a visual of what books I am currently reading.  Super cool right?!
3) I sewed up a huge cute something for a friend that I got to see on Sunday night.  I will share that one (and all of the drama associated with it later).
4) Finally was able to vacuum since the above mentioned apartment drama was almost over.
5) Oh and I finished a few books. :)

First one I finished, Darth Paper.  I knew immediately when I started it that I didn't really like it.  It grew on me a little bit because since I started it I wanted to finish it.  Overall, you can seriously tell this was written for a younger audience.  If you have a teen and they love Star Wars they would enjoy this book.  I realized a third of the way through that this was a sequel to another book but you didn't really need to have read the first book to understand what was going on in this one.  Also listening to the book I found that this is probably a book better suited to be actually read via the paperbook.

The second one I finished was the first issue of Fairest.  Now, I have had this issue since pretty much the day is came out... months and months ago.  As you can tell I am a bit behind.  I was a little disappointed because it starts off the story with a male character but I can tell that it is going to be just as good as the Fables comic.

I stayed up a bit late on 3rd of July to finish Lola and the Boy Next Door.  I have to say that I really really liked it up to the very end.  Now, I don't want to ruin it for anyone who has not read it but I just don't feel the ending was right.  I believe the true ending was foreshadowed but not chosen.  I did like it overall though.  I just fast-forwarded in their time and imagined my (better) ending for it.

I am still chugging along on Undercover in High Heels.  I am getting to the really good part where you don't want to put it down.  I can't wait to find out who the killer is!!

The next audiobook that I started was Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore.  And. I. Love. It.  I love the reader and I love how the story is written.  I am so happy that I have all three in the series.  I will be able to go right from one to the other to the final one!

I am thinking about catching up on the three other issues of Fairest that I have... might make Jon feel better for buying them individually for me versus waiting for the trade... :)

Can't believe it's Monday, but have a good one!!

What I'm Reading Monday - Split

I was able to get a bit of stuff read this past week.  I don't have too many finished, but I am definately farther along on some of them.

I finished Split.  I really really liked it.  I feel as though the author could have kept going, but it had a finite ending.  I feel like someone going through that same situation would benefit from reading this book.  I do have to say that there were still some parts that I was mad about.

I was able to read a chapter or two of Undercover in High Heels.  I feel as though I need to just dedicate a day to sit a read this one.  I even had to stop reading in a really good spot to maybe entice myself to read it sooner.  So far that idea isn't working.

I am at a really good spot in Lola.  I even made a point to read it today at stop lights.  I also managed to get to work a little early and read until work time.  I can't read it during lunch since I have to play catch up on some of my posts.  Annoying being a day late getting back from vacation.  Anyway.  Lola is finally realizing decisions she has known all along.

I started Darth Paper Strikes Back today.  I am not really sure if I like it.  I can definitely tell this is for younger readers.  I realized after I added it to Goodreads that this is actually a sequel.  I hate reading series out of order. :(  Oh well, I don't feel like I would want to read the first one anyway.

I hope to finish a few of these so that I can start on my Fairest books. :)

What I'm Reading Monday - Last Summer

This past week I still managed to do some major reading even while out of town on vacation!

[Source]

I started and finished Last Summer (Of You & Me) by Ann Brashares.  It was quite funny that I picked that book to bring to New York as part of it was set in New York.  The story was about two sisters and their best friend.  It explores their adult relationships while looking into their joined past.  I enjoyed the story very much and felt a stronger connection due to the fact that I was in the city the story was partially set in.

I am getting farther and farther through this book and I am really enjoying it.  I still can't imagine being in the situation these characters are in.  I keep finding myself yelling at the car window because of something that happens or is said in the book.  I am sure that I look like a crazy person during those moments especially if there isn't any bad traffic around.

I did a bit of reading of Lola this week before we headed out for vacation on Thursday.  I am still enjoying it and can't wait to get back to reading since I didn't bring it with me on vacation.  Since it isn't my book I didn't want to lose or damage it.

I was able to read a few chapters of Undercover in High Heels.  Still can't seem to find a good time to just read read read to finally get it finished.  It is getting good though so maybe I can find time this week.

I am looking forward to being home and having time to do some more reading.

What I'm Reading Monday - Split

My reading from last week doesn't leave much for me to report.

I finished listening to Half Brother.  I loved it!  I was very satisfied with how the story ended and I can't wait to talk about it with Kellee!!  Oh one thing I didn't like was that the first and last tracks were recordings either telling me it was the end of that CD or recapping the last minute or so of the previous CD.  Annoying!

My next audiobook choice was Split by Swati Avasthi.  I am a few discs in and I am enjoying it.  I am curious what will happen and it is keeping me guessing as to what will happen next.  It is a book that is making me think about what I would do if I was placed in a situation like the main character, Jace.

Yes, I am still reading Lola and the Boy Next Door.  I do have to say that I am making a point to get into bed a little earlier than normal so that I can read a chapter or two.  It is part of my new routine I am trying to develop.  I am liking the turn of events I have encountered in the last few chapters I have read.  I can feel the tug and pull that Lola is experiencing and although I have never experienced that I can definitely understand it.

I am reading another book on my iphone.  Undercover in High Heels by Gemma Halliday.  I have read the first two books in this series and enjoyed them.  I just find it very difficult to read on my iphone between it being small and back lit like a computer screen.  I probably am a 1/3 through it.

Not sure how much reading I will be going since I have super fun plans for this weekend. :)

What I'm Reading Monday - Half Brother

This past week I felt very accomplished.  I finished two, count that TWO books!

I finished up listening to Nightshade and it was amazing.  I really enjoyed the whole story.  I was sad to find the ending didn't conclude the story.  I am freaking out because I really dislike when stories don't end, but I am desperate to find out what happens next.  I have yet to look up if the next books are formatted for audiobooks or not.

I then started As Simple As It Seems by Sarah Weeks.  I was ready for a short and sweet story since I had just finished my second 8 or more disk book.  It was a nice book and the voice was very young sounding.  The story was fun and interesting.  I enjoyed learning about Verbena and her new friend next door.  And the book was over before I knew it and I could start another one.

The one that I started was Half Brother.  It so far it is very good and the first one that has a male reader.  It took a little getting used too, but I think I got it now.  I find myself getting very mad at the father and laughing at the son.  I would like more story about the chimp and what he does.  I understand that Zan is not the main character, but I sure like him a whole lot.  I just switched to the third disk this morning and hopefully will switch disks this afternoon.

I am still near the beginning of Lola. I think I read for about 10 minutes since I first started it.  Hopefully I will have some time this week to read it and maybe even finish it!

Happy Monday everyone!

What I'm Reading Monday - Lola!

Happy Monday!!!

Just got back from a team-building thing at work and my Myers-Briggs type has basically stayed the same.  I am still waaaaay to the Judging side.

Anyway.
I finally finished up Anna and the French Kiss this weekend.  It was cute!  I really did enjoy it and I was hanging on there until the end.  I am glad at how it ended but it was a little painful there for a chapter or two.

I then immediately started reading the companion novel Lola and the Boy Next Door.  About three chapters in I am very curious who this new character is that moved back next door.  I have been enjoying the change of pace from Anna and the French Kiss.

I am so close to finishing up with this book.  I am getting worried how it will end since I have only one and a 1/3rd disks left.  It does not seem like it will be able to have concise ending (which I so crave).  I found out that there are more books in this series!  Two more to make up the trilogy, a prequel, AND a book between the second and third.  I have no idea if they are on audio books or not but I know that I have to find them and read them.  I am hooked!!

I haven't quite decided which audio book I will listen to next.  I might just have to do eenie meanie minie mo to pick one.

Happy reading!!
